Preparation of rare earth metals
The production of over 400 grams of pure gadolinium metal by reduction of the anhydrous chloride by calcium in tantalum vessels is described; yields were over 97%. The use of the same techniques in an attempt to prepare yttrium metal were partially successful.
متن کاملSeparation and Recovery Process for Rare Earth Metals from Fluorescence Material Wastes Using Solvent Extraction
The separation and recovery of rare earth metals from fluorescence material waste was investigated by using solvent extraction with 2-ethylhexyl phosphonic acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester in kerosene. Extraction equilibrium expressions were established for the trivalent metals (La, Ce, Eu, Tb, Y and Al) and divalent metals (Ca, Sr and Ba) for both single and multi components systems. The process s...
متن کاملThe RARe eARTh MeTAlS And TheiR CoMpoundS Thermal Analysis of Rare earth nitrate Mixtures
26 Einstein J. Biol. Med. (2008) 24:26-31. A method of analysis is proposed which utilizes the characteristic melting points of the hydrated salts and the liquidus curves of the binary salt mixtures for the estimation of the composition of rare earth mixtures. Several binary salt systems were investigated, employing very pure simple and double rare earth nitrates to provide basic information co...
متن کاملElastic and Acoustic Properties of Heavy Rare-Earth Metals
In this paper, ultrasonic properties like ultrasonic attenuation, sound velocities, acoustic coupling constants and thermal relaxation time have been studied in hexagonal structured metals Gadolinium (Gd), Terbium (Tb), Dysprosium (Dy), Holmium (Ho), Erbium (Er) and Thulium (Tm) along unique axis at room temperature. For the evaluations of ultrasonic properties, secondand thirdorder elastic con...
